Leys Festival and Horticultural Show returns to Blackbird Leys Park

By Sarah Edwards

Leys Festival and Horticultural Show is back at Blackbird Leys Park from 11-3pm on Saturday 7th July.

The event, which has been organised by a steering group consisting of The Blackbird Academy Trust schools, The Oxford Academy, The Oxford Polish Association, The Nigerian Community in Oxfordshire and Oxford City Council promises more stalls and activities than ever before.

Each stall will have some wonderful and fun activities whether it is to get your blood pumping on one of our sport activities like the kick boxing, mountain biking or to invoke your creativity with the many craft stalls.

This year’s event brings together scores of local groups and organisations as well as some fantastic entertainment from further afield. There will be a variety of performances encompassing dance, music and even a clown!

Attractions this year include petting farm, crocodiles of the world, balloon modelling, DIY face painting, story tent, bouncy castles, slime making and much much more. There will also be a host of ‘have-a-go’ sports activities including kick boxing, football, badminton, cricket, zumba and zorbing football, to name but a few.

And best of all, all of this is either free or low cost, with no activity costing more than £1.

The day will be full of music and fun for children and adults alike so come along and get involved, there will be something there for every member of the family!

This fantastic event is possible thanks to the generous funding of Blackbird Leys Parish Council, Green Square Housing, Catalyst Housing, NISA and City Councillors.
