New Access to Higher Education Diplomas

By John Charlton

Ruskin College is launching a new Access to Higher Education Programme starting in September 2018.

Access to Higher Education Diplomas are designed specifically for learners who are looking to study at a higher education course, but may not have the relevant entry qualifications needed or skills required for further study.

Currently Ruskin runs Pre Access programme in Health & Social Care and our Access programmes in Social Science and in Health Professions, and will now expand the curriculum with the additional Access to Humanities, Access to Nursing and Level 3 Certificate in Counselling courses.

The new Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing is a stepping stone for students who are looking for a blend of preparing for further academic study and wishing to progress into nursing. Modules will include biology, study skills, maths, English, ethics and the NHS.

Access to Higher Education Diploma in Humanities is a stepping stone to prepare learners for higher education study in a wide range of humanities subjects.

Ruskin will also launch a new Level 3 Certificate in Counselling QCF which will enable learners to work towards becoming a reflective practitioner of counselling by considering theories of human development, self-awareness, supervision and issues of difference and diversity.
