The Blenheim Fun Run returns to Woodstock

By John Charlton

World Heritage site, Blenheim Palace, Woodstock in Oxfordshire is the stunning venue for the annual Blenheim7k Fun Run which will be held on April 29.

There are three events to offer a race for all ages and abilities: the 7k takes a scenic route around the trails and paths of the Palace, including a spectacular lakeside section. Run, jog or walk, the course offers a challenging run for the more experienced, and beautiful surroundings for the beginner or anyone who wants to take a gentle pace.

Participants can run for fun or choose to fundraise for the charity of their choice. To date over 60 charities will be benefitting, both locally and nationally.

Organiser, Sarah Airey, said: “We provide an opportunity for many smaller charities to fundraise without the hassle of organising the event themselves. In particular, this means that many smaller charities can get involved and benefit from the event. For example, last year a team of parents raised £750 for Woodstock Under 5s.

Lisa Hanton, fundraiser at Restore said: “2018 is Restore’s 40 birthday year and to help celebrate we are getting together a team of 40 runners to take part in this year’s race. Restore is an Oxfordshire based Mental Health Charity, with six recovery groups and a coaching service we support people through their recovery from mental ill health. Getting a team of runners together is not only a great way to fundraise for much needed fund but it’s a great way to reduce the stigma associated with mental ill health.”

The event is sponsored by Freeths solicitors. Sarah Foster, Managing Partner at Freeths solicitors said “We support many worthwhile community and charity related initiatives. This is why we are particularly proud to be the headline sponsor of the Blenheim 7k fun run for the sixth consecutive year running. We support the fun run not only because it enables runners to support charities that are close to their hearts but also to use the time to spend with their families in such beautiful surroundings. We would like to wish all the runners the best of luck.”
