Reginald D Hunter at Oxford Playhouse

By John Charlton

Reginald D Hunter brings his latest show Some People Vs Reginald D Hunter to the Playhouse on Tuesday 6 March. In the years that he has been living and performing in the UK, Reginald’s searingly honest material, including the popular three-part BBC2 series Reginald D Hunter’s Songs of The South, has garnered him a popular fan base that spans the generations.

Having been in the UK for nearly two decades he has become one of comedy’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on subjects including race and sexuality. His work can be brutally honest and is often considered to be controversial, unafraid to face challenging issues head on, even when the focus is on his own principles or beliefs.

He is a well-known face on primetime television shows such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and QI and is a frequent guest on Have I Got News For You.

The support act for the evening is Pete Johansson, whose hit solo Edinburgh show Naked Pictures of My Life garnered rave reviews and also bagged him a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Pete has appeared on many shows including The Late Late Show, Russell Howard’s Good News, Comedy Central’s Live at the Comedy Store and Best of the Fest, as well as having his own Netflix special.
