Help Barracks Lane Community Garden relight their fire

By John Charlton

Barracks Lane Community Garden is in need of a replacement wood burning stove and needs to raise funds urgently.

The wood burning stove in the cabin at the garden has reached the end of its life and can no longer be used. The community would like to replace it as soon as possible to provide invaluable heating in the cabin for all community groups and individual hirers at this chilly time of year. The stove is an integral part of the garden not only providing heat but also that warm and friendly atmosphere that the garden radiates to all who use it.

They need to raise £3,600 to buy a new stove and flue, have it installed and certified, and have a new safety guard fitted. Without the stove, the cabin is impossible to heat properly and the project loses valuable community space.

Barracks Lane Community Garden is a unique space in Oxford and receives around 5,000 visits each year from members of the community and hosts many diverse community groups. The garden is entirely supported by donations and run by local volunteers.
