Sweet Charity at Oxford Playhouse

By John Charlton

Oxford Playhouse welcomes Sweet Charity, the all-singing, all-dancing student production from Halfwit Theatre on the main stage from Wednesday 31 January to Saturday 3 February. Marking 30 years since the death of the legendary Bob Fosse, the company from Oxford University pull out all the stops, whisking audiences from Central Park to dance clubs and hippie churches with its bold and vivacious choreography.

Transporting audiences to the glamorous world of ‘swinging sixties’ New York, encounter the gullible and guileless dance hostess Charity Hope Valentine. Dazzled by the bright lights of the Big Apple, and always giving her heart away to the wrong man, the quirky, eternally optimistic Charity must learn to find strength and happiness within herself.

The energetic Broadway classic Sweet Charity promises to light up the stage with hilarity, extravagance, and undeniable fun. Dance the night away to iconic musical numbers ‘Big Spender’, ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’ and ‘The Rhythm of Life’. A feel-good, winter warmer of a musical.

Wednesday 31 January to Saturday 3 February 2018

Tickets for Sweet Charity at Oxford Playhouse start at £10 and are available from the Ticket Office on 01865 305305 or book online at www.oxfordplayhouse.com
