Cowley Road Carnival needs your vote

By John Charlton

Cowley Road Carnival, the annual street celebration in East Oxford, is seeking additional funding to help towards the 2018 event.

The organisation behind the event, Cowley Road Works (CRW), is hoping to win a grant from the Aviva Community Fund and to make this happen they need the public to vote.

The money would help towards outreach work with multi-cultural and disadvantaged communities in the city and beyond, as well as the arts development working towards Carnival next year. The hope is to win funds of up to £25,000 if enough votes are cast.

Cowley Road Works is committed to developing local cultural heritage, building and nurturing relationships and forging bonds with a large number of diverse community groups including Women of Diversity, Asian Cultural Centre, Beryl’s Night transgender group, Modern Art Oxford, YWMP, Oxford Festival of Arts, Ark T, Global Confluence, Restore Mental Health charity, Cyc Du Soleil, and Oxford University Museums.

Upwards of 100,000 people will be engaged directly or indirectly by the outreach projects that CRW delivers within the mixed community of East Oxford and wider County.

To vote simply go to the Aviva Community Fund website, find Cowley Road Works project and register to vote.
