Oxford’s Visitor Centre finalists in the Beautiful South Award for Excellence

By John Charlton

Oxford’s Visitor Information Centre has been announced as finalists for Information Provider of the Year in the Beautiful South Awards for Excellence, for the second year running. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony at the Grand Hotel Brighton on 29th November, where the Oxford Visitor Information Centre will find out if they have won Gold, Silver or Bronze.

The awards, to recognise the best businesses in Tourism in the South East, are accolades of the high standards of the tourism sector, and finalists will be invited to represent the South East in the National VisitEngland Awards which take place early in 2018.

Tourism South East’s CEO, Nigel Smith said: “The Beautiful South Awards are the highlight of the year for the South East’s visitor economy. They are a reminder of the amazing wealth of fantastic tourism businesses and experiences South East of England has to offer. This year the overall standard of entries was higher than ever making it extremely tough for the judges. Some very fine businesses narrowly missed the cut so the finalists truly are the best of the best.”

Speaking on behalf of Experience Oxfordshire Vanessa Allen, Customer Service Development Manager said “We are thrilled to be finalists for the Beautiful South Awards, and are proud to receive recognition of our team’s dedication to helping Oxford’s visitors. We are lucky to have such a great destination to tell people about in Oxford and Oxfordshire: there really is something for everyone, and we love telling people about it. We are looking forward to the awards ceremony, and hope to upgrade from last year’s Bronze award!”

Partners of Experience Oxfordshire, Oxford Castle Unlocked are also announced as finalists in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category of the awards along with Blenheim Palace in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category.
