BLAP needs you!

By Sarah Edwards

Blackbird Leys Adventure Playground has now been re-opened for over five years, and the numbers of eight to 13 year olds who use the facilities after school each day continues to grow.
BLAP has recently appointed two assistant play leaders, Maeson John and Chantell Clifford to help Sarah Wain the Play and Project Leader.
In order to give the BLAP members the best possible choices when they come to BLAP they are looking for more volunteers who can offer a few hours a week to work with the children and young people. BLAP is open for longer from October 23-27 for the Half term play scheme
Children play outside, enjoy arts and crafts or cooking and generally have fun as they play. The back area of the playground offers scope for gardening, a tree house to play on, cycles to be mended and woodwork undertaken. BLAP needs more volunteers of all ages in order to allow the children to have regular access to all areas of the playground.
Volunteers who would be willing to help apply for more funding or register the children as they arrive or undertake some of the administration would also be welcome
Training is available so all volunteers can understand the importance of play and DBS checks and references are required for all adult volunteers. If anyone would like to know more please phone Sarah at BLAP on 01865 236646 or email on
