The Oxford Half Marathon – Calling all runners!

By John Charlton

Local Oxford charity The Archway Foundation is looking for people to run the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 8 October 2017, and help raise funds.

The Archway Foundation was established in Oxford in 1982 to help relieve some of the real distress caused by loneliness. The charity connects those feeling alienated with a diverse group of volunteers, many of whom know for themselves how damaging loneliness can be.

The Oxford Half Marathon will be celebrating the running movement and the Oxford community so it seems a fitting opportunity to not only raise funds but also to raise awareness of Archway. The importance of nurturing social connections within the local community is what Archway is all about.

Marshal for Archway

Archway is also looking for volunteers to marshal for the Abingdon Marathon on Sunday 22 October 2017. The charity takes part every year and for every volunteer that gives up their time to marshal, Archway receives a donation. As well as helping to raise funds for Archway, it’s a chance to participate in all of the action without breaking a sweat! No previous experience is required. In addition to a free t-shirt, hot drink and food vouchers, all marshals are invited to attend the post-race function as a thank you.
