Help beat cancer with Oxford’s Race for Life

By John Charlton

Women across Oxfordshire are being encouraged to join the Oxford 2017 Race for Life to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

This year’s event will be a Pretty Muddy 5K race over an obstacle course that women of any ability can climb over, crawl under, and charge through. The event will take place at South Park, Headington Road, Oxford on Saturday 16 Sep 2017. The course meanders around the beautiful grounds of South Park’s 50 acres with magnificent views overlooking Oxford. The route is mostly grass with some gentle slopes and the muddy obstacles throughout to tackle together. There are lots of opportunities for supporters to watch at each obstacle and the whole event has a fantastic atmosphere.

Pretty Muddy events are planned in waves, each starting 15 minutes apart to make sure everyone on the course is safe. You can enter as an individual or as a group and the objective is to finish the course, have fun and raise money for Cancer Research.
Participants can set up a fundraising page and can get plenty of hints and tips on how to generate sponsors.

The organisers state you must be female and 13 or over at the time of the event and if you have a pre-existing medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before registering.
