Oxford Polish Association celebrates Polish culture and heritage

By John Charlton

The Oxford Polish Association is organising a number of events to celebrate Polish Heritage Day. Polish Heritage Day is a new initiative of the Polish Embassy in London to celebrate openness, appreciation and better understanding between the Polish community and the wider British Society.

A Family Picnic is planned on May 1 from 12-4pm at Blackbird Leys Adventure Playground in Oxford. All activities are free and will include bouncy castle, soft play, table tennis, crafts, face painting and DIY Barbecue.

A music concert of Polish heritage songs will take place on Tuesday May 2, from 6.15pm at Hertford College, Catte Street, Oxford. This free concert will be followed by a Polish food buffet from 7.15-8.30pm where guests can sample a wide range of dishes.

There will also be numerous events, shows, picnics and lectures organised by the Polish diaspora in cooperation with local councils and Polish community organisations across the country.
