Give and Gain at Pegasus School

By Stella Gathenya at

Parents and supporters of Pegasus Primary School in Blackbird Leys got stuck in to help re-paint the school’s fence as part of the Give and Gain day project.
Volunteers were joined by the employees of Clydesdale Bank whose motto is, ‘we care about here.’ The bank is a member of Business in the Community (BITC) and members work together to build a fairer society.
Last Friday was the organisation’s Give and Gain day when members are asked to volunteer to help a community project and they chose to support Pegasus School. Staff have been involved in a number of projects up and down the country. One of the employees said: “It is so rewarding to come out to the community and feel like you have made a difference no matter how small. We are happy to be involved with Pegasus School.”
The progress was impressive as a little over an hour into the painting the volunteers had reached the ten per cent mark and were invited into the school assembly. By the end of the day they had got to the 50 per cent mark, had painted 130 vertical bars and 260 horizontal bars.
The volunteers are planning to come back and finish off the work, and are calling for more people to come forward regardless of any painting experience or whether you are a parent there. One parent said: “I wanted to come out in support of my child’s school and help as much as I can. It is also a chance to socialise with other parents which is always good.”
