Playhouse special reader offer

By Sarah Edwards

Clybourne Park at The Oxford Playhouse

Clybourne Park is a hugely funny and insightful show. Inspired by Lorraine

Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun, it offers a remarkable glimpse into the

changing face of race and family across half a century.

With the swinging sixties just around the corner, the Younger family are hoping their

move to Clybourne Park is a sign of better things to come. But as a black family

moving into white suburban Chicago, mutterings from the neighbours are all too

predictable. Fifty years on, in 2016, we return to the same house as gentrification

sets in and the roles are reversed.
